Over 125 such success stories find place
on Ader Gandi’s webpage. However, when friends first heard the name of his
site in 2005, they laughed, comparing it with The Last of the
Mohicans. Gandi, however, believed the name was catchy and would
serve its purpose of helping people reconnect.
“These missing Parsis have been found because we are a very tight-knit community. Besides, it helps that many Parsis have unique names,” said Gandi, who lives in San Francisco. He screens every request and acts as a go-between for applicants and respondants on the website. The page has generated considerable interest within the community and sees spurts in online traffic following national and international Parsi conventions, at which awareness spreads through word of mouth. Gandi has been frequenting Mumbai, the largest home for Parsis across the world, since 2003. That’s the year he set up TheParsiChronicle.com, which featured community news clippings from across the world. “Those who read the Chronicle assumed I knew everything about the community, from the value of a Parsi artefact to the whereabouts of a friend they lost touch with,” said Gandi. “It was a simple solution: to use the internet to help people reconnect.” Not all of his efforts have been well received. A few people have taken offence. “They didn’t want to be branded missing and objected to being listed on the page,” he said. Case #310 (Posted July 6,
2010) Dear Ader, I have studied in J B Vachha High School
in Dadar Parsi Colony. My maiden name was Manijeh Bamji and I would dearly
love to locate any of my school friends who passed SSC in 1970. One friend
in particular is Yasmin Kalyaniwalla who used to live in Rustom Baug,
Byculla and I believe she is working in Godrej Company as a
secretary. Another friend is Tinaz Motivala - I believe Tinaz lives in
Dadar Parsi Colony and runs a catering business. Some of the other people
I am searching for are Shernaz Kavarana, Firuzi Madon, Yasmin Dadachanji,
Janet Paltanwala, Alice, Mahrukh Dumasia, Bakhtaver Daruwala, Bakhtaver
Lilaowala, Hufrish Batliwala, Khurshid Patel, Bapsy Sohrabjee, Pervin Lam,
Dinku Kapadia. Of course the surnames would now be different since most of

SOLVED (July 15, 2010)
My dear Manijeh, Your search for Yasmin Kalyaniwalla is
over, thanks to Firdosh Tolat !! I am now Yasmin Homavazir.... Could we
ever forget the golden days of our school......Tina Motiwalla (and
not Tinaz) is still in Dadar running a catering business. I had the
opportunity to meet her just once at a function of ex-students some years
back. Unfortunately I do not have her email address. Shernaz
Kavarana is married and is living in Mhow. I happened to meet her
quite recently when she lost her mother. Incidentally, her mother happened
to me my eldest sister-in-law's immediate neighbour. The last I met Yasmin
Dadachanji (who is married to a non-Parsi with 2 daughters) was at one of
by sons' navjote years back. Have absolutely no clue about the others.

Dear Mr Gandi, thanks to your wonderful website and Mr
Firdosh Tolat, I have located 2 more of the many missing Parsi classmates
listed in CASE NO. 310, as well as on old teacher's phone number (not
listed). I will be visiting Mumbai at the end of July and hope to find
some more of my old friends so I can organize an old friends reunion.

parsi lady who went by the name Daulat fali Elavia pet name dolly
who was from Ahmedbad her fathers name was fali Elavia Owned a mill during
nationalization. her mothers name shirine Elavia. She studied up
north in an American finishing school she had two Daughters Rebecca And
Rana. Married someone from the Gulf . her two best friend were sheela who

14, 2010) I would be interested in locating ESPI SANJANA,
who lived in the Gowalia Tank area in 1962. He left for New York in 1963
to study there. He was from St. Mary's High School and we were friends
during our First Year Science at Elphinstone College, Mumbai - others of
our ilk were Ravi Talwar from Mayo college Ajmer and Dinshah Vimadalal
from Cathedral and John Connon School. Believe from what Dinshah told me a decade ago, that he was still
in the New York area - am visiting NY in July and wondered if I

Hi Ader, I am looking for my friend Rustom
Khodadad Irani, originally living in Bhaji Galli opp.
Grant Road Staion in Mumbai, India. His father Khodadad had a
restaurant by name Cafe Darius at Sleater Road(near Grant Road
Station), Mumbai. I met Rustom at IIT Bombay
where I was studying Chemical Enggineering. We were both staying at
Hostel-5 and were living in the same wing on the second floor. Rustom
studied Electrical Enggineering at IIT Bombay from 1969 till 1974
and then proceeded to USA to do his Masters. Thereafter he
married Sarvar Irani and was living in Daytona,
Florida. I and my family had visited him there way back in 1981
and stayed at his home for a few days. In those days he used to work for a
company called Testline who were into manufacture of
semi-conductors. I understand that Rustom now has his own business (not
sure) and has two children. Hope you can find him and send me his e-mail

I had a childhood friend named Farah Bhatena from
Pune. We studied in Sardar Dastur School, she was around
2 years younger to me, she may be around 34-36 years old now. We both
stayed in Agarkar Nagar Colony, Pune, 411001. She was a good friend of mine, though
when I moved for engineering studies out of Pune, we lost touch, and I've
been in the US (San Jose) since 1997. We were good friends and I wish to

Ireland. I recently met a Mario Murini at the Italian Embassy, who used to
live in New Delhi as his father was posted at the Italian Embassy there.
He used to have a very close friend by the name of Hormuz Bhujwalla whom
he lost touch with many years ago and once he learned i was Parsi, he
asked me if there is any way he could get in touch with him. Hormuz
apparently had a younger sister who was very pretty. Hormuz should be

Did anyone meet Zarir when he was over in the States? He went there and joined the Merchant Navy after a brief stint with the Marines in Egypt. He came over to UK for the Coronation and stayed. I am Looking for one Khushnam Irani (age in 40’s) who lived in Indore, MP, India and had elder sister Shahnoor Irani. Khushnam later moved to Bhopal and also worked as Air Hostess in Vayudoot airlines. Shahnoor worked in Indore and I think later moved to Mumbai after death of her parents. shot, but my mother Navaz Anthony (born Navaz Chinoy) is
trying to locate her father's family in Karachi. Her father's name was
Kekashroo Chinoy and he worked in Binny's Mills. He died
a long time ago (around 1944) in Karachi, but we wanted to know if there
were any relatives either in Pakistan or India. I am hoping to visit
Pakistan soon and would love to look them up. My grandmother

Greetings from Cape Town! My name is George
Troupe and I am a native of Kingston-upon-Hull in East
Yorkshire, England. I went to Hull College of Technology
1963-1965 and had three Parsi friends at the college, namely
Sam Kapadia, Danny Rustomji and Pilloo Medhora. When I
went to sea in the U.K. Merchant Navy in July 1965, one of my first stops
was Bombay and I met their families who all stayed in Cusrow Baug. I
became particularly close friends with Pilloo Medhora who
also went to sea in the mid to late 60's. He gave up the sea after a few
years and I believe he married, living at 7 Shalimar
Road, Acton, W3, West London. I stayed at sea for 30 years but I lost
contact with Pilloo around 1970. I did a Google search for his name and it
came up with a Pilloo Medhora living in Pinner, Middlesex which is West
London so it could be him. Maybe he moved house to the next suburb. It was
an entry on a sports page called 'the 4th game' dated the 25th January
2007 but I cannot find anything more recent. I cannot find a telephone
number for him in the on-line UK telephone directory so perhaps he just
has a cellphone. This is the web page entry "Name: Pilloo Medhora Location: Pinner - Middx. Sam already
knows playing at Emirates is looking at 3 Nil drubbing, what goes round
comes round!" I would very much like to get in touch with Pilloo again. As
I am now 62 years old, Pilloo will probably be around 68.

Hi Ader, I trust this finds you well. I am very happy to tell you
that a gentleman by the name of Jimmy Bomanjee took the trouble to
e-mail me with Pilloo's details and we have made contact after some 35-odd
years. It just goes to show that real friendships never die, even if they
go on hold for a while! Living in South Africa (since the country came to
it's senses) it is perhaps of some significance that Pilloo is Asian and I
am European, but I found that in my 30 years of world travels, you meet
some wonderful people and have unforgettable experiences if you accept
people and things for what they are. Our differences, whether they be of
race, colour, culture or religion, should make us interesting to each
other, not be things of conflict. In the same way, here in Cape Town I
have friends of Indian & Pakistani origins, along with Africans of the
Xhosa and Zulu cultures. Adding spice to the mixture I also get chance to
do volunteer work with refugees from Zimbabwe, D.R. Congo, Rwanda, and job
seekers from Mozambique, Angola and Malawi. Cape Town is a real
melting pot - a bit like London I suppose! I have to thank you Ader for

Lived down the road from the school and as far as my knowledge goes moved to America after marriage. Her mother if I remember correctly used to have workers who used to embroider sarees from her home. One of my wedding sarees was embroidered there. I know Rhoda has an older sister. 3. Tanaz Boywala I have no idea if she married, I know she was Rhodas first cousin and lived in the same building as Rhoda. The name of the building eludes me but I can see it in my minds eye. your website. I am a 27 year old male living in Sydney, Australia and
have spent the last 5 or more years building my family’s family tree – I
have it going back to the early 1700s in Bombay and Ahmedabad. I am trying
to complete a family tree for my wife’s family and whilst I have a lot of
information, I am missing one part of it. My wife’s name is
Rakhshandeh Appoo, nee Hira. Her family
is from Karachi. However, her maternal grandmother,
Nargiz Patel’s mother – Putlibai Anklesaria was from
Bombay and therefore my wife’s maternal grandmother (Nargiz)
knows very little about her mother’s family. I am looking for any
information on Putlibai Anklesaria’s family. The
information I have is that her father was Dadabhoy Anklesaria
(1866 to 1941), and her step-mother was Najamai
(her birth mother died very young). Putlibai had 4
half-brothers who’s names were Godrej, Padam, Dhunjibhoy and Nadrishah.
Dadabhoy (the father), owned a famous furniture shop on the main
street in Pune. Godrej owned a large fruit orchard in Pune
and was married. He was born in approx 1898 and died in 1972, and
apparently had no children. Nadrishah was a famous
physician from Bombay and died in a motor cycle accident. He was born in
approx 1900 and died in 1928. He was never married. Padam
was borh in around 1900 and died in 1956, and was an
Instructor General at the Police Training Institute at Nasik, near
Poona. He settled in Bombay after marriage and apparently had no
children. Dhunjibhoy was the only brother to have a
child/children. He took over his father’s famous furniture shop on a main
road in Pune. Apparently this furniture shop is still around but has been
locked for years. He was married and had at least 1 child. I am
looking for any info on this family. I believe the only living members
would be possibly Dhunjibhoy’s child/children and grandchildren
etc. The biggest lead I have is that they had a furniture
