Helping find Missing Parsis and Zoroastrians

Please bookmark this site, visit it often, and tell other Parsis and Zoroastrians about it. Thank you.

Every one in two missing Parsi cases referred to us, gets solved!

Hi and welcome to TheMissingParsi.com

My name is Ader Gandi and I live in San Francisco, California, USA. My email address is Ader@Gandi.com and AderGandi@gmail.com.

Currently, I am in Bombay. You can reach me on my cell phone 93249 16509

I, along with Yazdi Tantra in Bombay, started TheMissingParsi.com on October 1st. 2005.

Our idea behind the TheMissingParsi.com is simple: use the power of the Internet to help fellow Parsis and Zoroastrians connect with people they have lost touch with.

This idea came to me as a result of the many requests from fellow Parsis all over the world who would ask if I knew of someone they used to know, who they had since lost touch with, and could I help them find the person.  I would get these requests because I am the founder of www.TheParsiChronicle.com which is visited by 300 people daily.

TheMissingParsi.com is going to help people with such requests in the following 3 ways:

1. You can write me an email at Ader@Gandi.com providing me with the details of the missing Parsi in your life. The more detail you provide, the more chances of finding the person: their approximate age, how and where you knew them from, their married and maiden names, when and where you had last contact with them, joint friends you knew, etc. PLEASE ADD "MISSING PARSI" IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF THE EMAIL.  I will post your email on this web site, which is now being read by 100 Parsis daily.  Hopefully one of them will know the whereabouts of your missing Parsi and will respond directly to you or to me.  To see our current listing of missing Parsis, click here.

2. It will provide a comprehensive listing of all electronic directories of Parsis and Zoroastrians available on the Internet. To see our current listing of such directories, click here. This is a work in progress that needs your help. If you are aware of additional electronic Parsi Zoroastrian directories, please send me an email at Ader@Gandi.com and I will add them to the list.

3. It will provide a listing of all known web resources of tracking down missing people. To see our current listing of such resources, click here. This also is a work in progress that needs your help. If you know of additional electronic resources, please send me an email at Ader@Gandi.com and I will add them to the list.

I welcome your comments and suggestions. You can subscribe to future news about Parsis and Zoroastrians by emailing Ader@Gandi.com with the words subscribe to the Parsi Chronicle in the subject line.

Missing Parsis: This needs your help. If you are aware of the whereabouts of the missing Parsis listed below, please send me an email at Ader@Gandi.com.  You can also directly email the person making the inquiry.  If you do connect with the missing Parsi you are looking for, please email me your success story. Thanks.

Case #200  (Posted June 28, 2009) Greetings from Cape Town! My name is George Troupe and I am a native of Kingston-upon-Hull in East Yorkshire, England. I went to Hull College of Technology 1963-1965 and had three Parsi friends at the college, namely Sam Kapadia, Danny Rustomji and Pilloo Medhora. When I went to sea in the U.K. Merchant Navy in July 1965, one of my first stops was Bombay and I met their families who all stayed in Cusrow Baug. I became particularly close friends with Pilloo Medhora who also went to sea in the mid to late 60's. He gave up the sea after a few years and I believe he married, living at 7 Shalimar Road, Acton, W3, West London. I stayed at sea for 30 years but I lost contact with Pilloo around 1970. I did a Google search for his name and it came up with a Pilloo Medhora living in Pinner, Middlesex which is West London so it could be him. Maybe he moved house to the next suburb. It was an entry on a sports page called 'the 4th game' dated the 25th January 2007 but I cannot find anything more recent. I cannot find a telephone number for him in the on-line UK telephone directory so perhaps he just has a cellphone. This is the web page entry "Name: Pilloo Medhora Location: Pinner - Middx. Sam already knows playing at Emirates is looking at 3 Nil drubbing, what goes round comes round!" I would very much like to get in touch with Pilloo again. As I am now 62 years old, Pilloo will probably be around 68. Possibly he has Parsi friends who frequent your website. Any assistance you may be able to give would be much appreciated. Many thanks. Kind regards, George Troupe Cape Town, South Africa. gtroupe@telkomsa.net  If you have any info, please write directly to gtroupe@telkomsa.net and copy Ader@Gandi.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Case #199  (Posted June 16, 2009) Hi Ader, Your website has helped reunite a lot of missing Parsis and I am hoping that it would do the same for me. I am looking for some of my school friends. We all went to BILLIMORIA HIGH SCHOOL, PANCHGANI and graduated in 1976. All about 48-50 years of age today. They are: CYRUS JALNAVALA – He used to live in Malcolm Baug, Jogeshwari.  DOSU MEDHORA – The last I had heard was that he had moved to somewhere near Toronto, Canada.  ZARIR SETHNA – No idea where he may be but I think he was from Delhi. RUSI MOTIVALA -  Was originally from Dubai and maybe still lives there. My name is Marzban Daroowalla (known as Daroo in Billimoria School). I now live in Westminster, Maryland, USA. I used to live in Khareghat Colony, Bombay and my family owned DICK JOYCE (Wine Shop) at Gowalior Tank, Bombay. My email address is mdaroowalla@actonmobile.com or adaroowalla@gmail.com .I would appreciate it if anyone reading this would help me get in touch with these guys. Thanks. Marzi Daroowalla  If you have any info, please write directly to mdaroowalla@actonmobile.com or adaroowalla@gmail.com and copy Ader@Gandi.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Case #197 (Posted May 26, 2009) Dear Sir, I came upon your site quite by accident, let me add I was thrilled at my luck. I have lost touch with a few friends I knew in Mumbai in school. Dear friends who I shared a lot of laughter, tears and growing up years. We studied in the Fort Convent of Jesus and Mary in colaba in the 60s and 70s. They are married I am sure and the last time I had met them was in the late 1980s. 1. Nina Mehta now Nina Unwala lived in Brady's Flats, Sorab Barucha Road. Was in England after her marriage. Her parents: Freny and Feroz Mehta. Nina her sister anaita, and brother sharouk and I would spend the evenings playing in Khusro bagh where her grandparents lived. I cannot remember her grandfathers name, but we used to call him Jhangopapa.  2. Rhoda Rustomji I do not know her name after marriage. Lived down the road from the school and as far as my knowledge goes moved to America after marriage. Her mother if I remember correctly used to have workers who used to embroider sarees from her home. One of my wedding sarees was embroidered there. I know Rhoda has an older sister. 3. Tanaz Boywala I have no idea if she married, I know she was Rhodas first cousin and lived in the same building as Rhoda. The name of the building eludes me but I can see it in my minds eye. She worked for AirIndia for quite a while. Her mother was Rhodas fathers sister. She too had an older sister. Name eludes me.It would be nice if I could get email ids/addresses or phone  numbers, to enable me to get in touch with them. Thanks and Regards Nasreen Abdul Khader (nee Kably) nasreenkhader@gmail.com  If you have any info, please write directly to nasreenkhader@gmail.com and copy Ader@Gandi.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Thank you.

Case #196 (Posted May 24,2009) Hi Ader, Thanx a bunch for the great job you do, a few words can't substitute my gratitude towards you. A wonderful thought at getting people together. At least someone uses the internet to benefit a small community like ours. I was hoping to find an old pal of mine from J.N. Petit Technical High School, Poona (now Pune). His name happens to be Aspi Marolia, as per the info I had was that his parents lived in Baharin, but he studied in Poona in mid 70s, and later even when we were in Bombay we had known our whereabouts but around 1989 or 1990s I lost touch with him. Another person I am looking for was a great pal from Gamadia Boys Hostel during the late 80s he was with us and his name is Jamshed Sanjana, heard that he had moved to the US, but has disappeared from the face of the earth since then. Would be great to get in touch with both of them and would highly appreciate your help in that. Get back to me if possible with some news. Thanks Ader, good luck hunting them. Truly,

Case #195 (Posted May 17, 2009)  hi mr. ader, i am hoping you will be able to help me find a classmate from Nazareth Convent, Ooty.  I had a written a request around May 5, 2009 in the current listing site, but do not seem to find it now.  I take it I did something wrong and therefore, am writing this to you. I am searching for a classmate named Ruby Tumboli (maiden name).  We graduated from Nazareth Convent, Ooty in 1974.  I have very little information on her except remember something about her family owning a cinema theatre named Tamboli Talkies, perhaps in Jalgoan, Maharashtra.  I am also searching for another school friend named Dilnavaz Mehta (maiden name).  However, she was much my senior and graduated from the same school around 1969 or 70.  Somewhere down the line we heard that she was in Canada.  If anyone can shed some light on these two individuals, it will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for your help and foresight to set up such a valuable site.  Take care.  If you have any info, please write directly to Mehtakk@aol.com and copy Ader@Gandi.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Thank you.

Case # 194 (Posted May 17, 2009)  Hello Ader, Thank you for your generous work with this site. I am looking for my friend Dinaz Deboo.  This is her maiden name and she used to live at Parel with her parents, brother and granny.  Her brother's a Chartered Accountant and I think they had a family business.  I recalled the family had moved to Marine Drive (I think above Kaysons/Kala Niketan sarees stores).  She did get married, but I can not recall her married last name. We attended classes for the Institute of Company Secretaries of India at Sydenham College around 1986, 1987.  I have lost touch with her for a long time now and would like to re-connect. I would appreciate if you could help by posting this on your site.  Thanks for all your help to me and the society in general. Best regards, Jasmine Tamboli (email: jas_tamboli@yahoo.com  or jas_tamboli@hotmail.com).  If you have any info, please write directly to jas_tamboli@yahoo.com  or jas_tamboli@hotmail.comand copy Ader@Gandi.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Case #193 (Posted May 10,2009) Hello! I hope you can post this on your website. I am a 27 year old male living in Sydney, Australia and have spent the last 5 or more years building my family’s family tree – I have it going back to the early 1700s in Bombay and Ahmedabad. I am trying to complete a family tree for my wife’s family and whilst I have a lot of information, I am missing one part of it. My wife’s name is Rakhshandeh Appoo, nee Hira. Her family is from Karachi. However, her maternal grandmother, Nargiz Patel’s mother – Putlibai Anklesaria was from Bombay and therefore my wife’s maternal grandmother (Nargiz) knows very little about her mother’s family. I am looking for any information on Putlibai Anklesaria’s family. The information I have is that her father was Dadabhoy Anklesaria (1866 to 1941), and her step-mother was Najamai (her birth mother died very young). Putlibai had 4 half-brothers who’s names were Godrej, Padam, Dhunjibhoy and Nadrishah.  Dadabhoy (the father), owned a famous furniture shop on the main street in Pune. Godrej owned a large fruit orchard in Pune and was married. He was born in approx 1898 and died in 1972, and apparently had no children. Nadrishah was a famous physician from Bombay and died in a motor cycle accident. He was born in approx 1900 and died in 1928. He was never married. Padam was borh in around 1900 and died in 1956, and was an Instructor General at the Police Training Institute at Nasik, near Poona. He settled in Bombay after marriage and apparently had no children. Dhunjibhoy was the only brother to have  a child/children. He took over his father’s famous furniture shop on a main road in Pune. Apparently this furniture shop is still around but has been locked for years. He was married and had at least 1 child. I am looking for any info on this family. I believe the only living members would be possibly Dhunjibhoy’s child/children and grandchildren etc. The biggest lead I have is that they had a furniture shop on the main road in Pune. Hope you can help! Thanks, Zubin Appoo zappoo@zip.com.au  If you have any info, please write directly to zappoo@zip.com.au and copy Ader@Gandi.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Thank you.

Case #179 (Posted March 4, 2009) Hello, Ader just browsing through your website. Am trying to locate my long lost college mate Darius D Dhondy. He had passed out form Allahbad MONIRBA Mgmt institue in 1984. Since then I have lost contacts with him. His mother Mr.s Meher Dhondy used to write for journals and magazines. Darius's brother Navroze is based in Delhi as CEO of Creatigies communication. I tried sending mail to Navroz as well . So far I have been unsuccessful in locating him. Even Face book has not helped me in locating him. I do not know anything about his present status. I tried looking up in the directory of THE PARSIS. That too has not helped. Would be too glad if you are able to find out and give me his contacts- E mai ID, Address, Mobile No. etc. Regards, MALINI SHANKAR Sr Manager .Reliance Inds Ltd, Chennai Malini.Shankar@ril.com If you have any info, please write directly to Malini.Shankar@ril.com and copy Ader@Gandi.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Case #178 (Posted February 18, 2009) Hello Ader, I was just browsing through, when I came across your website, and immediately remembered one of my teachers. Avan Wadia was our teacher for our "Community Service" course in early 2003, as well as the Registrations Advisor at Champlain College ECMIT in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  She was also our Advisor for our combo fashion-music charity show, "Mambo Jambo," where we raised funds for war victims relief.  She is a fantastic lady, with a real zest for life, and full of knowledge & experience that she would share with us (while peering at us through her spectacles - to make sure we were paying attention!).  I also remember her rattling off in Gujrati with some of the other students, and her quite liking hot chocolate!  I was still in contact with her until about 2004-2005, but unfortunately lost touch when her email address was no longer active. If anyone knows of any way to get in touch with Mrs. Avan Wadia, I'd really appreciate it if you could drop me an email on  kasajwani@gmail.com  Thanks! Regards, -Kiran Sajwani. If you have any info, please write directly to kasajwani@gmail.com  and copy Ader@Gandi.com  so it can be recorded as a solved case. Thank you.

Case #176(Posted February 7, 2009) Dear Ader Gandi, I am searching on behalf of my father Professor John A Weatherell for a good friend of his of 50 years ago. They shared a flat at the University of Leeds in the late 1950s but lost contact, I believe, when Dr Sarosh Hirzi Kanga returned to India. I believe that Dr Kanga would be aged in his early seventies now. I would be very grateful if you could help these two gentlemen make contact again. Yours sincerely, Stephen Weatherell steveweatherell@gmail.com If you have any info, please write directly to steveweatherell@gmail.com and copy Ader@Gandi.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Thank you.

SOLVED? (March 23, 2009) Hello Steve, This is regarding your post on TheMissingParsi.com, looking for Dr Sarosh Hirzi Kanga. I asked around and I found that someone seems to know Mr. Kanga...as a client. I have a telephone number. I have tried to confirm that this is the very same person you are looking for...I had given the same description to my friend through whom I was able to get the number. But she said she could not vouch for it...but I there can be another Mr. Kanga who is around 75 and been to Leeds. :) If you are still looking for Mr. Kanga, do let me know. I will share the number with you so that you can confirm the finding. Thanks. Regards, Ashutosh
